Maximiliano Araújo is a Uruguay winger or wing-back known for his pace, energy and willingness to get forward down the flank. He came through in South American football before moving to Europe, becoming a useful attacking option for the national side.

He rescued a point for Marcelo Bielsa's Uruguay against Saudi Arabia at the 2026 World Cup, levelling the scores on 80 minutes.
