Mateo Chávez is a young Mexico left-back, an attacking, energetic defender who moved to Europe with AZ Alkmaar in the Netherlands. He is one of the new generation pushing into the Mexico setup.

He scored his first international goal against Czechia, a clinical breakaway finish to break the deadlock.
