Gonzalo Plata is an Ecuador winger, a tricky, direct attacker who made his name in Europe with Sporting and Valladolid before moves to Brazil with Flamengo and on to the Gulf. He is one of Ecuador's most dangerous forwards.

He stabbed home the winner against Germany to complete a famous comeback and send Ecuador into the knockouts.
