Alex Freeman is an attacking right-back who became one of the breakout stars of the United States' home World Cup. A homegrown product of Orlando City, he won the MLS Young Player of the Year award in 2025 before a move to La Liga side Villarreal. Quick and adventurous getting forward, he forced his way into Mauricio Pochettino's first-choice defence in the build-up to the tournament. He is the son of former NFL wide receiver Antonio Freeman.
He underlined his rise at the 2026 finals with a goal in the 2-0 win over Australia that sent the hosts to back-to-back victories.
